Give Your Printer Some Love

Chicago Print Repair

They're a part of your team; they help you with everyday projects; they are there to help you prep for every meeting, client interaction and event. They are your office printers. Now, we won't pretend that they are always easy to work with in the day to day office. Some printers are tardy, taking longer than you'd like to spit out information. Others get stuck on a job by jamming. But ultimately, these printers serve you well, especially the high-quality ones. So how do you return that favor and increase the lifespan of your current printer fleet? A little TLC might be just the thing.

How to Care for Your Printers

Taking care of your printers is a matter of paying attention to a few different details like expiration dates of consumables, high-quality items, and preemptive care. Let us take a look at some of the ways you can keep your printer happy:

  • Expiration Dates - You may think of ink and toner as forever fine products, but they do eventually expire and could be damaging to use past this date. Keep track of this to improve your printer's lifespan.
  • Ink & Toner Storage - If you aren't using a few of your toners and they are in storage, it is important to store them in a safe space. Airtight, standing upright and keeping cool.
  • Not Until The Last Drop - It is unwise to wait until the last drop of ink or toner has been used up. Most printers will let you know when they are low on a specific product, and replacing that before the very last drop is much better for your printer.
  • Cleaning Time - Regular cleanings should be performed for rollers. This helps prevent smudges when printing. Try a lint free cloth to do this cleaning!
